Recognize the pattern. Win the game.
My name is Patrick Gilmore. I like to write about video game production, particularly about understanding and building quality, but also about teams, culture, leadership, transparency, vision and strategy.
I’ve been lucky to have had a part in development of some watershed games in our industry, from Sega Genesis Aladdin (pioneering game animation techniques) to Medal of Honor and Medal of Honor Airborne (first combat FPS and first open objective FPS), Strider and Killer Instinct (two classic reboots and Gen8 launch titles from one studio), New World (Amazon’s biggest success in games to date), and even more to come.
I’ve also had the privilege of consulting on a broad range of efforts, from using games in organizational transformation and professional development, to diligence on 9-figure investments to leveraging the positive psychology of games to increase cancer survival rates.
I’d love to hear from you. Comment on my articles or drop me a note if there’s a way I can help.
